Billie and Gertie sleep along my legs.
Last week I finished my petsitting for Billie, Gertie and Dimi. It wasn't long after that Chou-Chou died of a fast moving cancer that baby Gertie found herself in a new home. This was my first petsit for Gertie. I came by for a free consult so I could meet her before the actual petsit. We got along great and I was really looking forward to spending time with her. Billie is getting up there in years. He's not as active as he was. I used to take him on long walks. Now it's just a little up and down the street. He sleeps a lot even with his new hypothyroid medication. Well I suppose that's expected given his brain tumor. When it comes, it comes in buckets, folks.
Gertie and Billie get along great. Gertie is very rambunctious and can be a little too playful with Billie, but that's why I'm there to distract her. We played keep away since Gertie doesn't get the idea of fetch. A lot of my pictures of these guys are at ground level, because I'm sitting on the ground with them. I find dogs and I just relate better when I'm sitting on the floor with them. In the photo here, I'm sitting in front of the TV where I can pet them non-stop while I flip channels. Trust me, the dogs LOVE this. 30-40 minutes will go by and I'm still petting them. Petting dogs is as addictive to me as it is for them. ; D I try to avoid getting up for water too much because I don't want to disturb them especially Billie, who needs his rest. I play keep away with Gertie while Billie sleeps against my leg. Gertie also brings everything in from the yard: sticks, grass, leaves, avocados, avocado pits. She and avocados don't mix because her farts almost make me lose consciousness. When we get in the backyard, Gertie and I chase each other, which is good because that keeps Gertie from terrorizing Dimi the cat. : D The photo of Dimi below is blurry because she's like an old squirmy shark, always looking for the next head rub. I gave Dimi a lot of brushing and cleaned her bedding several times because she had that much extra fur on her. In the last photo, you'll see that Gertie is still a pup so dogwalking is still new to her. She stopped multiple times to just look around. She's getting the idea that I will allow her to stop and sniff as much as she wants, but we gotta keep moving. I took Gertie a 3-block walk and back, after that she goes to zzzz land, which is nice for us both. ; D On our last walk, I didn't even have to remind her. She just moved from smell to smell at a quick pace. Such a smart pretty girl. ;D I took a lot of photos and sent them to my clients and they LOVE that. We even did a FaceTime chat on our iPhones so my clients could see their kids and not feel so far apart. Billie and Gertie were sleeping at the time so it wasn't all that exciting, but my clients LOVED being able to see them face to face.
Eventually I'll be posting more of Billie, Gertie and Dimi photos in the Furry Kids section.
I'm happy to report that my clients were so happy with my service that they gave me this card and a gift card. They're good people. : D
